Guest Experience Associate
About The Vices
The Vices York is York’s first private-house hotel experience, which opened its doors in January 2022. It houses three unique suites, each a combination of contemporary design with innovative smart technology, and the in-house dining experience, Allium.
The Vices York experience from beginning to end, focusses on joy and exploration and we’re looking for team members who can help deliver this. We’re looking for confident, proactive individuals who want to grow and develop in the world of hospitality, but who are also are committed to growing with The Vices brand to support our future expansion plans.
The Role:
Guest Experience Associate
Full time position. 4 days per week. (Wednesday-Saturday)
In our small and intimate team, every role is crucial. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in a career in hospitality to join an independent business, with ambitious plans for growth. Learn about our plans, understand our product and work with the senior team to grow The Vices York.
As Guest Experience Associate, your role is diverse, fast paced and hands-on. You’ll be working across departments for our hotel and our in-house restaurant, Allium, to ensure a perfect experience for our customers.
Your role is to ensure that every department from the wine library through to the cocktail bar, is on track to deliver the exemplary customer service that our guests deserve. You’ll go above and beyond to ensure a perfect experience. You won’t be managing a large number of guests, but instead getting to know each and every guest personally so that you can go above and beyond their expectations.
We need you to be proactive in your thinking, and tenacious in your ability to drive The Vices brand forward. We want you to understand the industry, know what our guests will be expecting, and keep our product fresh and exciting. As part of your day to day role, you’ll be dealing with our customers, suppliers and the wider business community so it’s crucial that you’re friendly, personable and can proudly represent The Vices York.
Your role is both operational and strategic, so an understanding of both is key. We want your support in creating a seamless operation, that is perfectly customer-centric.
You’ll be working within a very small team, which will include the Company Directors and the Head Chef so a strong voice is important.

Essential Requirements:
- A passion for the food and beverage industry.
- A passion for hospitality and high end customer care.
- Brilliant attention to details.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Creative mindset
- Immaculate personal presentation.
Preferred but not Essential:
- WSET or equivalent certifications.
- Bilingual or multi-lingual skills.
- Managerial experience in a hospitality setting.

Mixologist

The idea of discover new and exciting flavours is key to The Vices York story, so our Mixologist can and should be creative, brave and innovative. You’ll be responsible for creating a beverage offering that can delight our guests and open their eyes to new taste combinations.
You won’t be hosting a large number of guests, but instead getting to know each and every guest personally so that you can go above and beyond their expectations. Bring an element of theatre to their experience and dazzle them with the performance and craft of mixology.
We need you to be proactive in your thinking, and tenacious in your ability to drive The Vices brand forward. You’ll be directly involved in the development of our menus and general offering. We want you to understand the industry, know what our guests will be expecting, and keep our product fresh and exciting. You won’t be hosting a large number of guests, but instead creating a perfect, intimate dining experience. You’ll be working in an open kitchen environment, so the ability to bring an element of theatre and personality to the role is key. There’s a performance element which will allow you to interact and engage with the customers directly.
We need you to be proactive in your thinking, and tenacious in your ability to drive The Vices brand forward. You’ll be directly involved in the development of our menus and general offering. We want you to understand the industry, know what our guests will be expecting, and keep our product fresh and exciting. Show us new ingredients and cooking methods. Help us make an impact within the industry.

Housekeeper
Full-time position. 4 days per week.

In our small and intimate team, every role is crucial.
Our hotel is small and exclusive. Three stylish suites, a dining room, cocktail bar and wine library need to be immaculate at all times. A small number of guests will come through our doors each day, but every guest is important and each should be met with the highest standard of cleanliness.
Your day to day role is to ensure a seamless cleaning process that will ensure maximum cleanliness, with efficiency. We need you to be proactive and take control of ensuring that The Vices York looks perfectly presentable at all times. We need you to think about our customers and their experience of the hotel, to ensure it’s not less than perfect.
Your role is hands-on and operational, and throughout the day you may be in contact with our customers, our suppliers and our wider network of contacts so it’s important that your approach is personable and friendly at all times. We want your support in creating a seamless operation, that is perfectly customer-centric.
