Do you have parking available at The Vices?

We have very limited off-street parking available, which is reserved for our overnight guests. If you’re dining at Allium or enjoying an evening in the Cocktail Bar, you’re invited to use free on street parking. Alternatively, can we arrange transportation for you. Can I arrange exclusive use of The Vices York?

Absolutely. We want you to use The Vices York in the way you want to. Email or call us to discuss exclusive hire of our venue.

With exclusive use you have the entire venue to yourself. Your meals can be personalised completely to your requirements by your private chef, and you will have access to round the clock housekeeping, a private sommelier and a mixologist.

Exclusive use of The Vices means making the space your own. Tell us what you want to create, and we’ll bring your ideas to life.

I’m visiting The Vices York for a celebration. Can you help me make it more special?

We would love to make your visit even more special. Make a note when you’re making your booking and we can discuss some options. Or alternatively, get in touch directly with some information about what you’re celebrating, and we can tailor some bespoke options for your visit. Perhaps you’d like a specially chosen bottle of champagne, a celebration cake, or a gift to be set up in your suite? Is The Vices York child friendly?

Overnight stays, our Wine Library and the Cocktail Bar are all limited to guests that are aged 18 or over.
Our dining experience, Allium is available to guests aged 13 and over – though please do consider that a children’s menu is not available.

Can I bring my pet?

Animals are not allowed in The Vices York, except for Guide Dogs. To discuss any specific situations, please do get in touch directly.

Is The Vices York LGBTQ+ friendly?

Absolutely. The Vices York and our entire team are welcoming to all and every guest.

Are poly-amorous guests welcome?

Polyamorous guests are very welcome at The Vices York. Our Suites all include super king sized beds, and if we know how many guests are attending, we’ll ensure that the appropriate number of amenities including robes, towels and slippers are provided.

Can I smoke during my stay?

The Vices York is a non-smoking zone. This includes all private suites and all communal areas.

Can I use electronic cigarettes during my visit?

Electric cigarettes can be used within private suites, but we ask that you refrain from using them in any communal areas.

Is The Vices York wheelchair friendly?

Unfortunately due to the historic nature of the building we have limited wheelchair accessibility and we do not have an elevator in the building.

Our suites can’t be accessed via wheelchair and may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues. And the Wine Library is not accessible via wheelchair due to limited door space.

The Dining Room and the Cocktail Bar are fully accessible.

Can I work at The Vices York?

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event of cancellation, all deposits are non-refundable.

We can look to transfer your deposit to a new date of booking, but only within 4 weeks of the original booking, and only if we are able to replace your booking. If you’re unable to attend, simply let us know as soon as possible and we’ll begin contacting members of the waiting list.

This applies to Stay, Allium and Cocktail Bar bookings.


What time is check in and check out?

Check in is from Wednesday-Sunday and is available from 3pm. Check out is 11am. To discuss a late check out, please do get in touch and we’ll do our very best to accommodate.

Can extra beds or cots be provided?

We can’t provide additional beds in a room. And because guests younger than 18 are unable to stay at The Vices, we don’t provide cots.

Can my pet stay with me?

Is breakfast included in my stay?

Breakfast is included in your stay. You’ll be invited to enjoy a delicious breakfast which includes pastries, breads and sweet treats, and of course steaming hot drinks including tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

What time is breakfast?

Breakfast will be available from 8am, but please do let us know if you’d like to arrange something prior to this.

Can you help me make the stay a bit more special for a celebration?

We would love to. Tell us what you’d like to see and we’ll do all we can to deliver. We can have your favourite music playing through your personal sound system or perhaps you’d like a hot bubble bath ready for your arrival? We can enhance your suite with your favourite fragrance, or ensure that your favourite book is resting on the coffee table.

As our guests, we’ll go above and beyond to turn your fantasy into a reality.

Can you arrange my travel to and from, the airport or train station?

We do offer a private chauffeur transfer service from and to The Vices York. Simply let us know when booking and we can provide a quotation and confirm your booking.

Do you have a spa or a spa therapist?

We don’t have a spa within The Vices York, but each suite has an exceptional bathroom experience designed to help you relax and unwind. Be it an Aquaelite shower system with transformative lighting, a crystal bath or double circular bath, surrounded by gem stones.

So perhaps let us arrange for one of our recommended spa therapists to visit you and deliver a rejuvenating, relaxing or restorative treatment in the solitude of your suite. Simply get in touch and we can arrange this for you.

Can you help me plan my time in York?

We’d love to help you enjoy your time in York. We can book local restaurants, arrange your trip to local attractions, and offer recommendations for local bars. You also have access to our private chauffeur service, who will provide a bespoke price dependant on your needs.


Who is the Head Chef?

The Head Chef of Allium is Luke Sanderson; a talented chef who continually pushes boundaries with dynamic taste profiles.

What are your opening hours?

Allium is open Wednesday-Sunday, and the tasting menu is served at 7pm. It’s a set time, which will see our chef create everyone’s food in unison.

Are you able to cater to my dietary requirements?

Unfortunately, the tasting menu at Allium is a set experience and we can’t alter this for dietary requirements. You may wish to experience and opt out of certain courses of course, which our team will arrange for you.

However, we are in the process of developing an option for our plant-based diners, which will be available once it’s perfected.

I have food allergies. Can I still dine with you?

Due to the size and practicalities of the Allium kitchen, we can’t cater safely for allergies. We want to keep our guests safe and simply can’t guarantee cross-contamination within the working kitchen.

Can I purchase the wine that I enjoyed with my food?

We’re delighted that you enjoyed your wine. Your wine was chosen by Daniel Curro, and could be available for purchase in The Archive. If you can’t see it there, please do get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

Can I book Allium for exclusive use?

You can hire Allium in a series of ways. Book out the Dining Room for up to 8 guests or book the Wine Library for 6 seated guests. The Wine Library is perfect for intimacy and privacy, whilst the Dining Room gives you a fascinating, interactive experience as there’s an open view to the chef at work.

What if I need to cancel or move my booking to Allium?

All of our bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable.

However, as long as we can sell your table to another guest, we can move your booking to another date within 4 weeks from the original booking. If you think you might need to move your booking, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll begin contacting our waiting list of guests.

We will of course do our very best to help you, but please do be aware that we cannot guarantee a transfer of the booking.

Can I make changes to my Allium booking?

Depending on availability we may be able to increase the size of your booking, however, if there is a reduction in numbers we can’t refund your deposit. If given at least 48 hours notice, we’d be happy to use the additional amount towards your final bill.

How long will the Allium experience last?

We advise around 1.5-2 hours for you to enjoy the Tasting Menu.

But we welcome you to arrive early to enjoy a drink in our Cocktail Bar or head there after your meal for the perfect nightcap.

What happens if a member of my party doesn’t attend, or doesn’t stay for the full Allium experience?

Unfortunately, with no prior notice, we can’t do anything in terms of refunding or transferring your deposit. If fewer guests arrive on the night, the deposit balance can’t be redeemed against your final bill as the Chef will already have prepped the missing members tasting menu.

Can I bring my own bottle of wine to The Vices?

Wine can be a very important part of your experience, and we recognise that some customers may have special bottles that we do not stock. We would be very happy to arrange for your bottle to be stored and then served for you at the correct temperature.

For this service, we charge a corkage fee of £25 per bottle or £50 per magnum, and we offer this service for a maximum of 1 bottle, for every two people.

Can I purchase a wine to enjoy at home?

Daniel has curated an exceptional collection of wines that can be purchased in The Archive. Items can be shipped across the UK and make a beautiful gift, or memento of your visit. If you’d like some help in choosing the right wine for you, please do get in touch with us directly.

Can I host a private event in the Wine Library?

Absolutely. The Wine Library is the perfect venue for an intimate gathering. We can host 6 seated guests, or 8 standing. This could be a private event, or perhaps you’d like a personal wine tasting with our sommelier. Simply email with some details and we’ll come back to you with some options.

Can I book exclusive use of the Cocktail Bar?

How do I enjoy time in the Cocktail Bar?

The Cocktail Bar is a place to truly relax on an evening. Simply book your arrival time via our website. We ask for a deposit to confirm your booking, but this amount will be used as a pre-payment for your drinks.


Can I book a corporate wine tasting?
