Arnaldo Caprai, Valdimaggio Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG

£45.00

75cl

During a selection of the most refined Sagrantino grapes, Caprai discovered that the grapes that grow around the estate lake show special elegant tannins. This vineyard enjoys a constant moisture from the lake, and this allows a balanced and slow maturation of the tannins.

TASTING NOTES

Black fruit, spice, tar and cured tobacco. Aromas of rum cake and cherry liqueur. This is a generous wine, however despite that evident muscle and brawn the tannins are carefully managed so that they don't taste bitter or astringent. In fact, quite the opposite.

Pairings

Roasts and grilled meats, seasoned cheeses.

Arnaldo Caprai

THE MAKER: ARNALDO CAPRAI

In 1971 Arnaldo Caprai decided to realise the dream of a lifetime: to produce wine. So he decided to buy forty-five acres near Montefalco and soon realised the great potential of a vine native to the area, still little known to the general public, the Sagrantino. It will be his son Marco to make the company Caprai the pride of their land. Today Caprai and Sagrantino di Montefalco are well known and appreciated all over the world. Numerous awards make the cellar Caprai a true symbol of their land, a trademark indispensable in the discovery this unique variety, the Sagrantino.
