The winery’s philosophy is to preserve the uniqueness of the old bush vines, recognising the value of these absolutely concentrated grapes. Individual wines made from the best vineyards, the oldest and most characteristic. The result is Old Vines, a pure Primitivo of superb quality made from this vineyard which is more than 80 years old.

TASTING NOTES

Dark red with concentrated fruit, 14 months ageing in new French barriques lends integrated sweet baking spice to black cherry, prune and red liquorice, tobacco and chocolate notes. Powerful, opulent with mouth fulling fruit. Wondrously generous and dense yet deftly balanced.

THE MAKER: Morella

Morella winery, founded in 2000 by Lisa Gilbee, is one of the most interesting exponents of Puglia’s wine. A lot of attention to detail and care go into the range of Morella wines, hand-picking, basket pressing, manual plunging, all of which pay off in their wines. A project born out of love for the vineyard of old bush vines; Lisa Gilbee had clear ideas from the beginning, to make wines that had a territorial identity with an absolute respect for nature. Modernity and tradition are combined to perfection in Lisa's wines, always pure and of great complexity
